About me

When I speak to some people regarding the "About me" of a blog or a website. Some think it's unnecessary. I tend to disagree, whenever I personally am looking at someone's site, most times, I like to know more about them, that's just my take on it.

My interest in writing started 27-years ago back in 1991.

Even though I had numerous years of writing experience, I continued to pursue a copywriting course with the American Writers & Artists Inc.

I had always loved writing, even while I was in school, English was my #1 subject.

Though I do remember vividly what piqued my interest at the time. I will talk about this a little later.

Occasionally, even when I was young, I would write keepsake journals and little tidbits.

I remember back in 1977 while living in Scotland (this is where I grew up), it was the same year my uncle and my dad had died. I had received the shocking news, that my ex-girlfriend had died at the age of 21.

She had always loved the Donny Osmond song "Puppy Love". I came home that night really upset and started to pen the words of "Puppy Love", tears running down my cheeks as I'm trying to write. I would sing the song over and over while listening to the song on my record player.

Here is a link to the song, over one million people like it too.

After watching this video, I realized, my feelings for this girl is still the same even after 41 years.

This had quite an effect on me as I started thinking about the fragility of life.

It was only when I came to Edmonton Alberta and attended a downtown mission, where I used to volunteer and sing with a group of other people, that thoughts started running through my head.

I came home that night wondering, how on earth, do so many people end up on the street, it was then that I wrote my first poem "I just want to be loved".

My poem "I just want to be loved", also became my first novel under the same title. I self-published the book and advertised it on "Smashwords" as an e-book and also on "Amazon" as a soft cover and an e-book.

Shortly after writing my novel, I decided to write my autobiography "Life is...but a memory" for my family. I then thought it was a good idea to make it available online too.

Some of my friends in Scotland read the book and told me that they hadn't realized anything about my life story, as I didn't talk too much about my family life. They thoroughly enjoyed it. I am hoping to make my autobiography into a non-fiction novel.

As the weeks, months and years moved on, I started to write more poetry and then eventually songs.

It didn't take me long to realize, that I had a deep passion for writing about other peoples' lives.

Lyric writing came real easy to me, when I write, words just flow from deep down within. In fact, many times when I'm driving, all of a sudden I'll pull over into a parking lot as I have to quickly write down what I'm singing.

I'll also wake up in the middle of the night, because sometimes I can't sleep as I usually have a song or a story running around my head.

Most writers will tell you, if you don't write it down while you think about it, by morning time you will have forgotten about it.

Normally, I will write at least one song or poem each day. My inspiration comes from news or programs I watch on T.V. I'll grab a pen and paper and jog things down that I see happening. If "Breaking News" comes on, I'll sometimes write an article about it and submit it to an online publication.

I now have over 200 songs and poems. I'm hoping one day that I can market them.

I see myself as a spontaneous kind of guy, I never procrastinate, I get up and just do it. I always have to be doing something. I believe like "Nike" does...."Just do it"

Whenever I take a break from writing, and as a blogger I enjoy setting up other blogs as my interests are quite varied.

I will give you a link to my various blogs that I've started, I construct them all by myself, hopefully, you will enjoy visiting them.

One of my blogs is another writing blog as well as this one, it comprises mostly of articles, songs and poetry.

Covering anything from religious articles to street people being kicked off their camping areas.

The other blog is a wood craft blog. I have been making wood crafts since I was in school.

I also have a cooking blog. Since growing up in Scotland, my mum had a "Bed & Breakfast" home and because of that, I used to help my mum with cooking.

Therefore, cooking is a passion of mine, that is, healthy cooking.  http://healthyandscrumptiouscooking.blogspot.ca/p/blog-page_27.html

I am also working on a painting blog as this was my profession for the past forty years in Canada. It is not completed yet as I just started building it a couple of weeks ago.

Seeing as I enjoy writing and composing songs, I took the liberty of making a few "YouTube" videos with me singing. I have never seen myself as a singer, but I keep hoping, that maybe one day, some artist will like my songs and want to record them.

If you look on the right side bar of "YouTube" you will see some of my other songs.

If I can help or be of assistance to you in any future writing projects, please contact me.

Have a nice day as you browse through my blog.
